Creating a Paid Event

Setting up ticketed events with or without seating plans

Paid events allow you to sell tickets for your showings, with buyers paying the ticket price plus the Stage Stubs booking fee. You can set up a paid event with general admission or with a full seating plan, depending on your needs.

1. Start a New Event

  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Click Create an Event.
  3. Choose Paid Event when prompted.
    • Free events offer tickets at no cost and do not support seating plans. If you'd like to know how to create free events, go here.
    • Paid events allow you to set prices and optionally use a seating map.

2. Add Event Details

After selecting Create Paid Event, you’ll land on the event setup page.

Details Section

  • Enter the event name.
  • Add a buyer-facing description (note: this field has a character limit).

Event Type Section

Choose one of the two paid event formats:

  • General Admission
    • Ideal when buyers don’t need to choose specific seats.
    • Follows the same setup as a free event, but requires you to set ticket prices and any variations when adding showings.
  • Allocated Seating with Seating Map
    • Buyers select specific seats from a visual venue layout.
    • You’ll need to provide:
      • Seating plan details (e.g., wheelchair spaces, blocked seats, special sections).
      • Pricing details (e.g., stalls vs balcony, adult vs child tickets).
      • A seating layout/diagram file for our team to build your seating plan.

3. Set the Event Location & Images

  • In Event Location, start typing your venue and choose the correct match.
  • Upload your Cover Image (max file size: 8 MB).

4. Configure Additional Settings

Customise ticket access and restrictions with the following options:

  • Password Protection - Allow booking only with a password.
  • Scheduled Ticket Release - Choose when tickets go live.
  • Limit Ticket Purchase per Customer - Set max tickets per buyer.
  • Ticket Sales Close Time - Decide when sales close before the showing.

5. Add Showing Dates

  1. Click Add Showing Date.
  2. Choose the date and time.
  3. Add ticket types, pricing, and variations (for general admission events).
  4. Repeat for additional showings as needed.

6. Publish Your Event

  • If your event does not require an allocated seating plan, it will publish immediately.
  • If it does require a seating plan:
    • The event status will change to Chart Creation.
    • Our support team will build your seating plan using the details you provided.
    • Once finished, it will be returned to you for approval.
    • Review carefully  - seating plans cannot be edited after approval.
