Creating a Free Event

Setting up events that don’t require ticket payments

Free events are perfect for organisers who want to offer entry without charging buyers - ideal for charity shows, school performances, private gatherings, and more. Here’s how to create one in your Stage Stubs organiser account.


1. Start a New Event

  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Click Create an Event.
  3. When prompted to choose an event type, select Free Event.
    • Free events provide tickets at no cost and do not support seating plans.
    • Paid events allow you to set ticket prices and can include optional seating plans. If you'd like to know how to set one up, go here.

2. Add Your Event Details

After selecting Create Free Event, you’ll be taken to the event setup page.

Details Section

  • Enter the event name.
  • Add an event description - this will be visible to buyers.

Event Location

  • Start typing your venue address and choose the correct option from the suggestions.

Cover Image

  • Upload your event image (max file size: 8 MB).

3. Additional Settings

You can customise access and ticket availability using these options:

  • Password Protection - Restrict access with a password if needed.
  • Scheduled Ticket Release - Set the exact date and time when tickets become available.
  • Limit Ticket Purchase Per Customer - Control how many tickets each buyer may claim. To know more about limiting tickets, go here.
  • Ticket Sales Close Time – Choose when ticket access should close.

4. Add Showing Dates

  1. Click Add Showing Date.
  2. Choose the date and time of your showing.
  3. Set up your ticket types and the quantity available.
  4. Save your settings.

Repeat this step for additional showings on the same or different days.


5. Publish Your Event

Once everything is filled in and double-checked, click Publish to make your free event live on Stage Stubs.
