# When ticket sales open and close

## Choose exactly when tickets go on sale and when they stop, and pause a date if you need to.

**Quick answer:** On Stage Stubs, switch on Scheduled ticket release when creating your event to choose exactly when tickets go on sale. Your event page shows a countdown and buyers can ask for an email when tickets open. Choose when sales close (24 hours before, 2 hours before, at the start or a custom time), and use Stop sales to pause one date.

A big on-sale moment can be a brilliant way to build excitement: "Tickets go on sale Friday at 7pm!" Stage Stubs lets you choose exactly when your tickets open, when they close, and pause sales for a date whenever you need to.

### Opening sales at a set time

When you're creating your event, switch on **Scheduled ticket release** under **Additional Settings** and choose the date and time.

Until then, your event page shows a countdown, and visitors can click **Get an email when tickets go on sale**, so they won't miss the moment. Your dashboard shows it too, under **On sale soon**, with **Copy event link** so you can start sharing early.

Already published and want to change the time? Click **Change on-sale time** on your event's page.

### Closing sales

You can choose when ticket sales stop under "When should ticket sales close?": 24 hours before the show, 2 hours before, when the show starts, or a time of your own. If one date needs to be different, open that showing (**View showing**) and change **Ticket sales close**.

### Pausing sales for one date

On your event's page, click **Stop sales** next to a showing. Nobody can buy tickets for that date until you click **Resume sales**. Tickets that have already been sold aren't affected.

### Good to know

All times are in the venue's time zone. And for really popular shows, a short queue can kick in when tickets first go on sale, which keeps the site quick for everyone. 

### Common questions

**Can I change the on-sale time?** Yes, click Change on-sale time before tickets go on sale.

**Does stopping sales affect tickets already sold?** No.
