# Ticket Booking Fee Explained

## A small fee on each ticket keeps Stage Stubs running, and you'll always see it before you pay.

**Quick answer:** The Stage Stubs booking fee in the UK is 8% of the ticket price, with a minimum of 25p per ticket, so a £10 ticket costs £10.80. Free tickets have no fee. Fees differ in other countries (see the table), and you always see the fee before you pay.

Stage Stubs adds a small booking fee to each ticket. It covers running the website and keeping card payments safe, and it means the organisers, who are often schools, performing groups and community organisations, receive the full price of every ticket you buy.

You'll always see the fee in your basket, listed as **Ticket Fee**, before you pay anything.

### How much is it?

It depends on the country the show is in:

| Where | Booking fee per ticket |
| --- | --- |
| UK | 8% of the ticket price (at least 25p) |
| Ireland, France, Spain, Italy, Germany | 8% of the ticket price (at least €0.30) |
| United States and Canada | $0.50 plus 3.5% of the ticket price |
| Australia | $0.50 plus 2.4% of the ticket price |
| New Zealand | $0.30 plus 2.9% of the ticket price (at least $0.40) |

So, for example, a £10 ticket in the UK has an 80p booking fee, and you'd pay £10.80. If you'd like to try a different price, our [pricing page](https://stagestubs.com/pricing) works it out for you: just choose your country from the list.

### Good to know

Free tickets never have a booking fee. If you're using a discount, the fee is worked out on the lower price, so you save on the fee too.

Merchandise such as programmes or flowers has a smaller 5% fee, and very small orders can include a tiny minimum card charge, which you'll see in your basket.

If you ask for a refund, the booking fee isn't usually included, but the organiser can choose to refund it. See here: [Asking for a refund or a change](https://help.stagestubs.com/en/how-to-request-a-refund-for-your-tickets?hsLang=en)
